Redlion Monsterkok Flowerhorn

The Redlion Monsterkok is a flowerhorn, a man-made hybrid cichlid developed in Southeast Asia from Central American parent species and selected for its pronounced forehead hump, heavy red and orange colouring and dark flank markings. No two flowerhorns are identical, so the fish in the tank is the fish you take home. This is a single individual rather than a strain we can reorder to match.

Aquarium care

• Grows large and needs a big tank with open floor space and strong filtration.
• Warm, clean water and generous water changes. They are heavy feeders and produce a lot of waste.
• A quality cichlid pellet as the staple, with occasional frozen foods.
• Keep decor minimal and heavy. They rearrange substrate, uproot plants and shove equipment around.
• Highly aggressive, and almost always kept alone, one fish to a tank.
• Use a firm lid, and take care with your hands in the tank. An established fish will strike at them.

This is a single-specimen pet fish for someone who wants a large, interactive cichlid, not an addition to a community tank. Hybrid cichlids must never be released, or put into a pond or waterway.
