Kordon Rid Fungus

Rid-Fungus is the herbal counterpart to Kordon's dye treatments, aimed at fungal and single-celled external infections without malachite green or formalin.

Key features

• Plant-derived naphthoquinone formula, used for cottony fungal growth and related surface infections.
• Works in fresh, brackish and marine systems.
• Contains no dye, so it will not stain silicone, rock or decor.
• Kordon lists it as safe with aquatic invertebrates. That is the manufacturer's claim, and in a shrimp or reef tank we would still treat carefully and observe rather than assume there is no risk.

Using it well

• Fungus on a fish is very often secondary to an injury or to poor water quality, so correcting the underlying cause matters at least as much as the treatment does.
• Take activated carbon offline during a course, since carbon removes the active ingredients.
• Herbal remedies act gently and reported results vary. For an advanced infection, a conventional medication in a hospital tank may be more appropriate.
• Dosing and course length are on the label, and we do not restate them.
