HMPK Koi Galaxy Male

Galaxy koi is a description of a look rather than a fixed strain: a koi-patterned halfmoon plakat with iridescent blue or turquoise speckling scattered across the body and fins like stars on a dark ground. Because the pattern comes from marbling combined with iridescence, no two fish are the same and the breeder's photograph is never the fish you take home. These are worth choosing in person.

Aquarium care

• Adults reach roughly 6 to 7 cm.
• Needs a heated tank; bettas kept cold become sluggish and stop feeding.
• Around 19 L or more of heated, filtered water suits one fish.
• One male per tank, with no line of sight to another male.
• Must reach the surface to breathe air, so never fill a tank to a sealed lid.
• Feed a betta-specific pellet plus frozen or live foods a couple of times a week.
• Colour and speckling continue to develop for months after purchase.

A single male can live alone very happily, or in a larger community with peaceful bottom dwellers such as corydoras and with snails. Avoid other gouramis, fin-nipping barbs, and long-finned fish that resemble a rival male.
