The blue emerald marble angelfish is a Pterophyllum scalare line combining the marble pattern, where dark pigment spreads across the body in irregular swirls rather than clean bars, with the blue gene that lays a cool metallic green-blue sheen over the top of it. The result shifts noticeably with the angle of the light, and the intensity builds as the fish matures. Marble patterning is never identical between individuals, so each fish is a one-off.
Aquarium care
- Needs a tall tank rather than a long low one.
- A cichlid. Adults pair off and defend territory.
- Grow young fish on in a group and let pairs sort themselves out.
- Prefers warm water with driftwood, tall planting and gentle flow.
- Omnivorous: flake, pellets, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp.
- The trailing fins are an easy target for fin nippers.
Keep it with corydoras, larger tetras, rasboras and peaceful catfish. Neon tetras and dwarf shrimp are not safe with an adult, and barbs known for nipping should be avoided.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the current angel list.
